Acacia wood is a non-indigenous hardwood species that was introduced to South-East Asia from the 16th century (VOC era). In the Philippines, it is used to make furniture, or as a building material or firewood. An acacia tree grows rapidly: it reaches its full length in sixteen years. The wood has a warm colour that resembles teak. Producer Kinta has several suppliers, often family businesses where the processing and finishing of the wood takes place: sawing, milling, sanding, polishing and oiling or waxing of the wood.

Timeless Design

Nowadays it is easy to crowd yourself with cheap tableware and clutter you cupboards with unnecessary accessories. Kinta's products however are timeless and easily hold up with more expensive and more prominent brands in terms of their quality. Usually with hand-made, and especially fair trade, goods you expect some imperfections, but this exceeds the standard.
